In My Opinion, it is Time to Look Outside
Since Larry Snively has resigned there is also a vacant seat on E.L.K Energy. This afternoon I entered a Notice of Motion:
“That the vacant seat on the E.L.K Energy Board be filled by someone in the community through an application process based on qualifications and not another member of Essex Council”.
In my opinion, we need to select someone for this vacant seat based on qualifications not political relationships. This may mean reviewing the terms of reference we have created on filling the E.L.K board but that is ok. I am willing to review “how we have always done things” to make improvements. Having 5/8 Councillors on this board leaves little room for the Shareholder ( The Town of Essex) to question the utility. Board members need to be accountable to the Shareholder and how can that happen if they are one and of the same?
I look forward to hoping having this conversation with council and doing what is in the best interest for the Town of Essex and E.L.K Energy.
