The List of Charities for the Draw to be Held This Weekend for Go Fund me Account.

Alright everyone here is the list of the nominated Charities from the community in response to the Go Fund me account. Hopefully there is something for everyone here! I will do a Facebook live draw Saturday so watch for it. As a reminder Charities here were nominated by individuals in the community. The Go Fund me page donations will be split 4 ways and sent directly to the winners. The money will never touch my hands. I am so grateful to everyone who donated. Look at what we can do when we come together!

1- Just wanted to give a shout out and nominate the Windsor-Essex Therapeutic Riding Association– Improving the quality of life of individuals with special needs through equine therapies.

2- Essex County Ravens Football is a deserving candidate. They are very active in the Essex community and put youth and sports together!

3- Zeta Kappa Sorority and we provide Santa Sacks for the less fortunate so that they have a happy Christmas morning.

4- Kick-it Capes. They make and present free of charge capes for children suffering traumatic childhood illness or injury. They have shipped worldwide. It was started by Laura Rivait-Spencer whose son was diagnosed with childhood cancer. Laura and Brad’s son did not survive but do this in memory of him.

5- Colchester Guardian-Colchester Guardian Rescue Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides a marine rescue service dedicated to saving lives and safe boating activities.

6- Humane Society, To make sure no animal goes without and is protected.

7- CAW Local 200 Computers for Kids– Our goal is to seek out serviceable electronic donations, both personal and corporate, so that we may assist the children of our community with computer access.

8- Kiwanis Club Sunshine Point Camp– Camp programs include swimming, soccer, arts and crafts, archery, campfires, sing-a-longs, games and more!

9- Mental Health and Addictions HDGH– The Addiction Assessment and Referral Program (AAR), located within the Crisis and Mental Wellness Centre at 744 Ouellette Avenue, is a community-based agency servicing Windsor and Essex County for individuals, age 16 and older who are concerned or experiencing problems and/or negative consequences related to substance use. AAR acts as an entry point into the Ontario Ministry of Health’s treatment system.

10-Little Hands Kids for a Cause– Our mission is to provide support and love to children battling serious illnesses in the Windsor-Essex area and beyond. We provide personalized HERO shirts, gifts, monetary donations and gift cards to Little Hands families and have created support groups for parents and caregivers. We currently have almost 140 local Little Hands Heroes and many other ‘Honorary Heroes’ across Canada and throughout the world. We hold several events throughout the year to fundraise for our cause, as well as to raise awareness about the many illnesses faced by our Heroes.

11- Bryerswood Camp for our local kids. Such a wonderful thing you are doing. Please keep up the amazing work for Essex. Camp Bryerswood is situated on 27.5 acres in McGregor, Ontario, and offers both residential and tent accommodations. The facilities are available September through June. The property has three buildings, five cabins, and several tent sites. Enjoy the use of the new mini golf course, hang out on the playground, or paddle along the lake in a canoe. In the winter, try cross country skiing or snowshoeing.

12- Canadian Mental Health Organization- Founded in 1918, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is the most established, most extensive community mental health organization in Canada. Through a presence in more than 330 communities across every province and one territory, CMHA provides advocacy, programs and resources that help to prevent mental health problems and illnesses, support recovery and resilience, and enable all Canadians to flourish and thrive. 

13- Harmony in Action: Adult day program * community organization offering day, evening, and weekend activities for adults in Windsor and Essex county who have a special need * program is designed to provide focal points for the personal, social, and cultural development of these adults.
