Council Members,
With the recent mayoral seat vacancy, as a result of Mr. Snively’s resignation following his admission of guilt to election campaign fraudulent activities, you as Council are charged with the selection and appointment of a replacement, for the position, for the remainder of the current term.
I have 12 years municipal council experience and as the mayoral runner-up with a vote count less than 3 percentage points shy of Mr. Snively’s “winning” total. I respectfully request serious consideration, by you, for my appointment to the open position.
If chosen, I would be honoured and humbled to work alongside council to continue the great work already in progress and pursue new initiatives presented during the remaining months.
As well, in order to alleviate any concern over real or perceived advantage if this appointment were undertaken, I now through this communication and at anytime future, Confirm and Declare I will NOT pursue the seat of mayor in the upcoming municipal election.
I trust, you as the remaining council members, will abide by the oath you have taken, and make your decision with the best interest of the municipality in mind and without prejudice or personal gain.
I am available should council wish to discuss this matter further.
Respectfully,Ron S. Rogers
Council has also been aware that:
Phil Pocock has also expressed interest in filling in as the Deputy Mayor- “my efforts in the campaign years ago and receiving approximately 40% of the at large vote”.
