How to Help Increase OPP Presence on Your Road

  • News

Speeding has been a top concern in our communities since I first got elected in 2010. Areas such as residential side streets, the 3rd concession and detours in ward 1 due to construction zones are top complaints from residents. We did bring this up during the most recent Police Service Board Meeting held May 4th at town hall. I asked our contract manager how is the best way to inform the OPP of problem areas. The manager said to keep suggesting to residents to call the OPP Non-Emergency number. You can easily google OPP Non-Emergency and find it as well as here:

Please call
1 888 310-1122
1 888 310-1133 (TTY)

For an emergency call 911 but for more police presence on your road call this number, the more calls we get the more the OPP will target the areas with patrols.

Members of our Police Service Board include- Sherry Bondy, Mayor, Chair. Kim Verbeek, Councillor Ward 2, Vice Chair, David Kigar, Timothy Meloche and Karen Robertson. We also have an email address set up for the members of our Police Service Board so feel free to email us with your concerns as well but please call the non-emergency number too.

Residents with questions or concerns about local policing can contact the Essex Police Services Board Chair and Recording Secretary at essexPSB@essex.ca
