Council Received an Update:
I get asked daily about the status of the Project so I thought it would be best to share so we are all in the know! This update is from our Director Kevin Girard.
- Asphalt paving has been completed.
- A substantial amount of landscaping is completed.
- Line painting is underway and should be done by the end of this week, weather permitting.
- The sidewalks are slated to be completed before the end of November. There are still some outstanding deficiencies that need to be addressed, but our focus is on substantial completion so that we can accommodate the Christmas parade and snow removal.
- Streetlight poles are slowly trickling in from the supplier. We received our first 20 this week and they are currently being installed along King Street. We’re hoping the next shipment will follow close behind along with the streetlight arms.
- Traffic signal arms are delayed, but we anticipate delivery of those at the beginning of December with installation to occur shortly thereafter. The remaining traffic signal materials are being stored by the Water Department and are ready for installation.
- Stamped pedestrian crosswalks need warmer weather to properly set. Unless we get 2 days in a row of favorable weather, these will be delayed to 2022.
- Push button pedestrian crossings have been ordered but the flashing sign itself is delayed. However, the electrical sub will start installing the poles etc with the installation of the streetlights.
- All furnishings are ordered, but they cannot be installed until sidewalks and deficiencies are completed. We are also experiencing a delay of the tree grates, which will hold up the underground planter since these are cast in concrete. If we do manage to complete the tree planters in 2021, the trees will not be planted until 2022.
