Democracy Only Works When We Fight to Protect It
This term started off with an investigation into what happened during our 2018 municipal election. Tune into the 40 minute mark of our inaugural meeting to see the issues I felt we needed to deal with as a council right at the start of the term. Now, a few years later we have come a long way and have corrected many loopholes and we have made suggestions at the provincial level for fixing how proxy forms can be used and abused during municipal elections.
The Resolution we recently passed at Council is included below as well. I am a firm believer that Democracy is the pillar to everything we do as elected officials and it must be considered sacred. I am so proud of the work the Town of Essex has done to further secure municipal elections. Residents and Candidates alike deserve a fair election.
The link below is the letter our council sent to AMO, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.

Tune in here at the 25 minute mark for the hot discussion.
