Update from Hydro One

  • News

Hydro One contacted my office and wanted to explain recent power outages that affected parts of Harrow and Colchester area in the fall of 2020. Hydro One is in the middle of a multi-year upgrade of several assets in our region which started in 2017. Two of the four transformers located at the Kingsville station scheduled for replacement have been done, the other two are scheduled to be done by December 2022. This upgrade in transformers will allow Hydro One to bring better power, faster power to the community.

Upgrades to the power lines started in 2019, Hydro One started to modernized their grid where improvements are made in smart switched which allows Hydro One to identify outages more quickly and efficiently.

The third project associated with safe and reliable power is Hydro One has invested into their vegetation maintenance program to ensure more frequent tree trimming. This is to help with any tree related outages by making sure every 3 years and vegetation is not getting in the way of the overhead lines. Hydro One wanted to confirm with me they are working to ensure regular maintenance and investment in local infrastructure here is important to them and if we ever have any questions please let me know so I can follow up.

Remember to call your utility provider when you experience a power flicker or outage. You can also let me know so I can track it on my end. Together we can work to make sure electricity in our area is reliable and working for us.
