As per the report by administration, if council were to consider appointing the last election’s runner up…..
- Allowed by and meets the intent of the Municipal Elections Act
- Shortest and straightest line for filling the vacancy
- Most cost effective
- An extremely justifiable, to the public, direction for council to take
- Already supported by many ratepayers/resident
- Does not give unfair advantage to any current member of council as we approach a general municipal election later this year
As well, the runner up has already…..
- indicated their willingness to accept
- meets the legality requirements of an appointment
- was within 2.5% of the former mayor’s vote tally
- confirmed to not run for the seat in the upcoming election
- has 12 years experience in municipal governance
- 30+ years business middle and senior management experience
To appoint this person is “transparent” as it has been publicly discussed through numerous medias including radio, tv and local and regional newspapers with no serious pushback to the proposal.
Tune in Tomorrow!
