Today the flag at Town hall was lowered to celebrate Kaidyn Blair Organ Donation Day. Kaidyn wants to spread the message about organ donation so that no one will ever die waiting for a life saving transplant. Kaidyn recently turned 20 and was the recipient of a liver transplant 3 days after his 1st Birthday. Kaidyn’s dream has improved the number of registered organ donors in Essex from 19% to now 51% percent.

Currently, around 1,600 people in Ontario are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. And though most of us believe that organ donation is a good thing, just over a quarter of us are registered as donors. Some great strides have been made in Ontario over the past year, but still more needs to be done. You can Spread the Word by encouraging your friends and family to register their consent to become organ and tissue donors.
