I hear you- power outages have been daily and they are wreaking havoc on our appliances and we have yet to have an explanation. I do know that Hydro 1 is working on a list of repairs but I hope for a public conversation so we can all listen and hear an explanation and planned solution.
Monday July 4th I have the following Notice of Motion on the Agenda:
Hi Robert, can you please add the following Notice of Motion to the next council meeting that;
“Essex Council invite both Hydro 1 and E.L.K Energy to a Special Council meeting to have a public discussion about the causes and the solutions to the ongoing power flickers and outages in the municipality of Essex”
Let’s hope council supports the motion.
As well please call your supplier and lodge a complaint.
Over a year ago…
Monday April 20th 2021, Essex Council had a productive and heated discussion about ELK and Hydro One. A motion to request a letter sent to Hydro One was up for debate:

RE: Safe and Reliable Supply of Electricity from Hydro One
Moved by Councillor Bondy
Seconded by Councillor Garon
That Essex Council send a letter to Hydro One to let them
know of the concerns we have in our municipality of frequent
power outages that are negatively impacting both our
residential homes and businesses.
In a recorded vote all of council voted in favour. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are looking to meet with a representative from Hydro One to discuss investments in infrastructure in our area. You can see the full discussion at our Essex Ontario YouTube Channel at the 1:52 minute mark.
Also to note that the Town of Essex is the sole shareholder of ELK and it has been asked several times what the value is of ELK energy. No one seems to know that answer. I do not believe it is an unreasonable question for us to have high level knowledge of the condition of ELK. I will keep asking, we need to know if it going up in value or depreciating. We as shareholders need assurance that we own a secure investment. So again I ask the shareholders and Essex Administration- What is ELK worth?
