When enjoying the outdoors, please keep your dog on a leash and observe the Poop n’ Scoop provisions of By-law 1606. I have been made aware of dog owners walking their dogs off leash at several Public Parks such as Sadler’s Nature Park and The Harrow Soccer Complex. We have invested in a dog park to give dogs a chance to have an off leash experience. I understand how tempting it is to let your dog run off leash in a public park but other residents need to feel comfortable walking in our parks without the chance of encountering loose dogs. Please keep your dog leashed at all times on public property. Animal Control for the Town of Essex and the OPP have been made aware and town administration are potentially looking at more signage to remind people of our bylaws.

3.05 Control of Dogs within the Town of Essex
3.05.1 No owner of a dog shall allow a dog to run at large within the Town of Essex;
3.05.5 No person shall keep a dog off the premises of the owner unless such dog is on a leash
which shall not exceed two metres in length;
