At the 2021 Capital budget deliberations, Council had included in the budget the 3rd concession sidewalk to be completed on the south side of the road from Queen Street to Sellick Drive. This project has been on the wish list for a few years, residents in this neighborhood have called and emailed council many times to get this looked at. Thank you for Councillor Steve Bjorkman for bringing it from the wish list section of the budget to the Getter Done section of the budget!
Council has just been updated from infrastructure services so I wanted to share that update with you. The Town has completed a preliminary review of the site for budget purposes where it was determined that we would install a 5ft concrete sidewalk. After completing a detailed review prior to tendering, is was discovered that a great deal of conflicts existed with driveways, parking and hydro poles. Therefore, it was determined that the most feasible and cost effective means to install Active Transportation infrastructure was to install paved shoulders adjacent to the 3rd concession similar to the CWATS paved shoulders that you are used to.
I am happy with the paved shoulder- now time to Getter Done!
